Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
In fact Multiple Chemical Sensitivity has been a subject of medical mystery. Differences are there among the doctors over the existence of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.
Multiple Chemical Sensitivity is claimed to be a medical disorder by some physicians. According to them, this disorder is triggered by the chemical components existing in the environment.
This disorder can last for short term with severe chemical exposure or for a long term with small chemical exposure. Once the chemical exposure has occurred the patient starts responding through physical reactions even to the low level chemicals found in cosmetics, soaps, and newspaper inks which are used everyday.
These chemicals trigger physical reactions. The Multiple Chemical Sensitivity patients typically complain of headaches, rashes, asthma, depression, muscle and joint aches, fatigue, memory loss, and confusion.
Some of the sections of medical community however do not approve the MCS as medical disorder. For instance, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity is not approved as medical disorder by the centres for disease control.
There is no official definition of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity as the symptoms developed due to chemical exposure vary vastly in different individuals. The effects of chemical exposure have been found to be very unique.
It has been a subject of skepticism for some physicians who hesitate to conclude that the low concentration of the same chemical can produce such an effect of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity in some people. MCS has been rejected as a clinical condition by the American Medical Association. It is just because the not scientific conclusion regarding Multiple Chemical Sensitivity is there.
